Dear Reader,
It gives us great pleasure to announce the launch of our new Interarch Infrastructure SBU with this edition of our Newsletter; Interarch's new Infrastructure division will focus on industries like Airports, Power plants, Refineries, SEZs, Ports and all other large projects. As we have already proven over the years and with the DIAL Terminal 3 project, Interarch has the capability of designing and detailing very complex steel buildings. We have production plants to produce large and
heavy steel structures and the project management capabilities manage the site execution.

Interarch Pre-engineered Retail Outlets |
|
|
|
|
|
|
The retail industry in India is expected to grow at a very exponential pace in the next few years, it is expected that total retail sales in India will grow from US$ 395.96 billion in 2011 to US$ 785.12 billion by 2015, the organized retail in India which a mere 5 % of the total industry in 2009 will reach 14-15% by 2015. This exponential growth will lead to construction of many retail outlets & showrooms.

Interarch's role in Sustainable Development |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Sustainable development is a pattern of resource use where we
ensure that we are taking actions today that won’t inhibit
the opportunities for the future generations.
This is the essence of sustainability – and the reason why more companies are and people are building green. Buildings account for such a significant amount of energy consumed in the world and therefore choosing materials and designs with sustainability benefits provides one of the biggest opportunities for environmentally conscious.
We at “INTERARCH” use cutting edge metal manufacturing technology along with responsible industrial planning combined with green technology practices to make sustainable buildings more affordable than ever. Through extensive testing and computer modelling we are able to reduce the amount of steel used while still meeting the most stringent building codes. |

Industry Spokesperson - Mr. Parag Warerkar |

M.R.
WAREKAR Associates pvt. Ltd. Is an architecture firm
founded by Mr. MR Warerkar in 1963 & now headed by Mr.
Parag Warerkar. They initially provided services for the
residential projects and then moved onto the govt.
projects. Now, Private industrial projects form the
major chunk of their business.
Mr. Warekar feels that
the implementation of IT in the design of buildings
especially the introduction of CAD changed the industry
completely. A lot more work can now be handled in a
smaller time frame.
On Global developments;
he comments, ‘I have personally visited the US at a
client’s recommendation & I would say the US PEB
buildings are not much different than the Indian
buildings. I think we are technologically at par with
them. The American metal building market isn't growing
with a great pace, so most of the buildings are older as
compared to India. I see a greater demand in the near
future for the Light Gauge Framing Systems (LGFS).
M.R. Warerkar &
Associates have now started taking on Green Building
projects as well, the first two being SpiroTech heat
exchangers and PepsiCo (Hyd.). The demand is picking up
slowly. Clients do ask for it. Some companies also go
for F.M. approved roofing e.g. Pepsico. This has a lot
to do with safety and insurance.
Our role will always be
to improve building standards and practices and help the
industry change/grow/evolve. We are always thinking of
better technology and designs and therefore it is an
ongoing process aimed at improvement of current
practices.
Few of the challenges we
face on a regular basis
-
Lighting in the day is one aspect of
design we find difficult to incorporate in PEB.
-
Low VOC Paints are not readily available in India.
-
P.C. Sheets with a specific SRI index allow light but not heat and such products need to be imported currently.

Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles
Most of the building's exterior was designed with stainless
steel & given a matte finish.
Located in the city center, the home of the Los Angeles
Philharmonic Orchestra has been designed to be one of the
worlds most acoustically sophisticated concert halls. The
curved, sharp surfaces of polished stainless steel
constitute a dancing mass of volumes that sparkle under the
sun between the skyscrapers. The exterior's metallic
cladding forms a contrast with the warmth of the wood that
dominates the rows of seats and the ceiling inside the
auditorium. |
